In this article we will highlight the differences between the M4000 and the M400.
Difference 1) Waveguides
One of the main differences between the M400 and the M4000 is the waveguide optics. The M4000 makes use of waveguide optics while M400 has a normal OLED screen. What are Waveguides? Waveguides is a technique that makes it possible to make the display transparent, such as with glass and plastic. As a result, the virtual image is projected onto the transparent display, but the user can see through the glasses more easily than when this is not the case. As a result, the display is no longer in the way and the user has an enlarged viewing window. While other technologies display an opaque image, Waveguides are transparent. This means that the Smartglass does not have to be removed to perform other tasks. Compared to the M400, which uses an OLED screen, the Waveguide technique also increases the resolution that is perceived. The M4000 has a resolution of 854×480 with the resolution of the M400 OLED screen being 640×360. Read more about Vuzix’s Waveguide optics.
Difference 2) Improved ergonomic design
The M4000 has an improved ergonomic design. It feels and wears more comfortable than the M400.
