How to set up Kiosk Mode on the HTC Vive XR Elite?

In this article you will learn how to set up Kiosk Mode on the HTC Vive XR Elite.

What is needed:

  • HTC Vive XR Elite
  • Optional: HTC Vive XR Elite controllers 

Option 1: How to set up Kiosk Mode on the HTC Vive XR Elite

  1. Go to the main lobby. To do so press the Vive Button on the right controller and click on Back to Lobby on the bottom right corner.
  2. In the dock which is located at the bottom of your view, click on Settings.
  3. On the left side of the Settings window click on Advanced.
  4. Click on Kiosk Mode.
  5. There you will be able to set up the settings for the Kiosk Mode.
    1. Choose the App you want to display through the Kiosk Mode.
    2. If you want a passcode protection to exit the Kiosk Mode, click on the toggle to activate and enter a passcode
    3. Choose a network permission. You can choose between: Offline only, current network only or any network.
    4. Choose the inputs. You can choose between: controller only, handy only or controller and hands.
    5. Select the tutorials that should be displayed when you put on the headset.
  6. If you finished setting up all the Kiosk Mode settings, click on Enter Kiosk Mode at the bottom right corner.
  7. To exit the Kiosk Mode press the Headset button and click on Quit Kiosk Mode. If you set up a passcode protection enter the passcode to exit the Kiosk Mode.

Option 2: How to set up Kiosk Mode on the HTC Vive XR Elite through the Vive Manager

For this option you will additionally need:

  • Smartphone 
  • App: Vive Manager (installed on your smartphone)
  1. Make sure the headset is turned on.
  2. On your smartphone, open the Vive Manager.
  3. At the bottom dock click on Devices.
  4. Click on the arrow next to the name of your device at the top of your display, to select the device you want to set up the Kiosk Mode to.
  5. Click on the blue Connect button under the displayed headset.
  6. Click on Kiosk Mode.
  7. There you will be able to set up the settings for the Kiosk Mode.
    1. Choose the App you want to display through the Kiosk Mode.
    2. If you want a passcode protection to exit the Kiosk Mode, click on the toggle to activate and enter a passcode
    3. Choose a network permission. You can choose between: Offline only, current network only or any network.
    4. Choose the inputs. You can choose between: controller only, handy only or controller and hands.
    5. Select the tutorials that should be displayed when you put on the headset.
  8. If you finished setting up all the Kiosk Mode settings, click on Enter Kiosk Mode.
