How to screencast with the Pico G2 4K?

In many cases it may be important that several people can follow your actions in the Pico headset, for example during a training, workshop or product presentation. For this Pico has added the option to ”Screencast” via Miracast within the Pico G2 4K headsets. In this article, we will take you through the steps required to cast the Pico G2 4K to an external screen.

What is needed:

  • Pico G2 4K headset
  • TV, projector or monitor that supports Miracast (most Smart TVs support Miracast natively), if your device does not support Miracast you can use a Miracast dongle.
  • Internet connection

Important*If you want to cast a monocular screen, you need to enable ‘Single-eyed Display’. Open your settings, select More>Connected Devices>Single-eyed Display.

Instructions for casting with a built-in Miracast receiver

  1. make sure both your Pico G2 4K headset and your Smart TV are connected to the same WiFi network
  2. Switch on your TV / receiver and open the Miracast application.
    1. When Miracast is built into your TV / receiver, it may be connected to an application. However, this is not always the case; In some cases you can find the Miracast of your TV / receiver without opening an application. When your Miracast is connected to an application, it will always be pre-installed on your TV / receiver. If it is not there, you only have to switch on your TV / receiver.
  3. Put on your Pico G2 4K headset and turn it on.
  4. Double click on the Pico button which will take you to a quick menu.
  5. Select “Screencast” from the quick menu, this button has the word TV on it.
  6. When in the screencast menu, make sure that “Enable wireless display” is enabled. You can find this setting by clicking on the 3 dots at the top right from the Screencast menu.
  7. Select the device you want to cast to. When you have selected the device, you will receive a notification on your TV. When accepted, your Pico screen should be duplicated directly here.

Instructions for casting with a Miracast dongle

  1. Make sure your Miracast dongle is connected to your TV and that your TV is on the correct HDMI channel.
  2. Miracast dongle sends out its own Wifi signal. Connect the Pico G2 4K headset to the Wi-Fi network of the Miracast (the network name, and any password, is usually described on the home screen of the Miracast. You can find the home screen by going to the HDMI channel to which the dongle is connected).
  3. Put on your Pico G2 4K headset and put it on.
  4. Double click on the Pico button which will take you to a quick menu.
  5. Select ”Screencast” from the shortcut menu
  6. When in the screencast menu, make sure that ”Enable wireless display” is enabled. You can find this setting by clicking on the 3 dots at the top right from the Screencast menu.
  7. Select the device you want to cast to. Once you’ve selected the device, your Pico screen should be duplicated directly to it.

Stopping casting

To stop casting your Pico G2 4K, you need to go to the Screencast menu again and disable ” Enable wireless display ” (as described above). Casting is then immediately stopped.  You should now be able to start and stop casting your Pico G2 4K to an external display.
