How to install an application on the RealWear Navigator 500?

In this article we will explain how to install applications on the RealWear Navigator 500, and how to uninstall applications on the RealWear Navigator 500.

What is needed:

  • RealWear Navigator 500
  • Active Wi-Fi connection
  • Computer 
  • Logins details to the Realwear portal called “Foresight”

Important* An APK (only needed if you would like to install your own application, general applications like Microsoft Teams are already available). For more information on this topic read how to install an APK on the RealWear Navigator 500. Applications are installed on the RealWear headsets via a portal called RealWear Foresight. Every RealWear is connected to a Foresight environment. If you have no login details to the Foresight environment, please contact your supplier. 

How to Install applications on the RealWear Navigator 500

To install applications you will follow a four step process. First you will need to add your application, second create a Policy, third you need to assign the policy to a device and fourth you need to update the device. Step 1: Add your application This step is optional. If you would like to make use of general applications that are available in the Realwear Application Manager, for example Microsoft Teams, you can skip this step. 

  1. On your computer, go to Realwear Foresight: https://cloud.realwear.com/
  2. Login with your details
  3. Click on “Device Management” in the left navigation menu
  4. Click on “Application Catalog” 
  5. Click on “+ Add New Application” in the right top bar
  6. Fill in the Application name (left top) and possible other fields
  7. Scroll down until you see  “Add Application Package file or apk” on the right side and click on it.
  8. Select your APK 
  9. Scroll up and press Save.

Your application is now ready to be added to a policy. Step 2: Creating a policy

  1. On your computer, go to Realwear Foresight: https://cloud.realwear.com/
  2. Login with your details
  3. Click on “Device Management” in the left navigation menu
  4. Click on “Policies”
  5. Click on “+ Add New Policies”  on the top right
  6. Fill in a name for your Policy
  7. Click on “+ Add App” in the middle right of your screen
  8. Select an App and press the Add button. You can add multiple apps to you policy if you would like to install multiple apps at the same time. 

* if your application does not show, please contact your application supplier 9. Press “Save” in the right top corner   You have now created a Policy that can be assigned to individual devices or device groups. This tutorial only explains adding it to individual devices.  Step 3: Assigning a policy to your device.

  1. Click on “Device Management” in the left navigation menu
  2. Click on “Devices”
  3. You will now see your devices appear. You can recognize your device by the serial number. The serial number can be found on the side of the box or at the side of the box. 
  4. Click on the device you would like to add the application to
  5. Scroll down until you see “Policy Template” and “Change Template”
  6. Click on the selection box below “Change Template” and select the Policy you create in step 1
  7. Scroll up and press “Save” 

You have now added the policy to the Realwear Device. A device can also hold a policy assigned to a device group. You can assign a policy to a device group with following similar steps as above. Simply click on “Device Group” in the left top of your screen after you have selected “Devices” in step 2.  Step 4: Updating your device.

  1. Turn on the RealWear Navigator 500
  2. The application will then appear on the device
