How to install APK files on the Pico G3 headset?

Installing an APK file allows you to add custom apps, demos, or enterprise software that are not available in the official Pico Store. This guide explains how to transfer an APK file from your computer to the Pico G3 and install it directly on the headset.

Step 1: Transfer the APK file to the headset

1. On your computer, make sure the app file ends in .apk.
   Example: VR_Sync_Pico_V3.6.0.apk
2. Connect the Pico G3 to your computer using a USB-C data cable.
3. Put on the headset. A prompt may appear asking you to allow access to data or enable file transfer. Select Allow or File Transfer. If no prompt appears, check your computer first. Open File Explorer and look at the left sidebar under This PC. The headset may appear as Pico G3, or a connected media device. Open it and go to Internal shared storage.
4. On your computer, open the Pico headset storage.
5. Go to Internal shared storage.
6. Open the Download folder.
7. Copy and paste the APK file into the Download folder.

Step 2: Install the APK file on the headset

1. Put on the headset.
2. Open File Manager.
3. Go to the Download folder or open the APK section if available.
4. Select the APK file.
5. Select Install (If the headset asks for permission to install apps from unknown sources, allow it and continue the installation).

Step 3: Open the installed app

Manually installed APK apps may not appear on the main home screen. To open, follow these steps:

1. Press the home button on the Pico G3.
2. Open Library.
3. Look for Unknown Sources or Unknown Source.
4. Select the installed app to launch it.
