How to connect the Vuzix M400/M4000 to Wi-Fi?

In this article you will learn about the two different methods to connect the Vuzix M400/M4000 to Wi-Fi.

With the companion app

What is needed:

  • Vuzix M400/M4000 (Already linked to smartphone)
  • Smartphone with Vuzix Companion app
  • Wi-Fi network

How to connect to the Wi-Fi with the Vuzix Companion app

  1. Open the Vuzix Companion app on your smartphone
  2. Verify that you are connected to the desired Vuzix device
  3. Then click on the Settings icon on the bottom right of the application.
  4. In the Settings menu look for Wi-Fi and click on it
  5. If the Wi-Fi is off on the device toggle it on
  6. A list of Wi-Fi networks should now be displayed.
  7. Select the desired Wi-Fi network and fill in the password
  8. Click Join

The Vuzix M400/M4000 should now be connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Without the companion app

What is needed:

  • Vuzix M400/M4000
  • Wi-Fi network

How to connect to the Wi-Fi via the Vuzix M400/M4000

  1. Turn on the Vuzix M400/M4000 and put it on.
  2. Go to the settings menu, use one finger on the touchpad located on the right side of the device and swipe forward until the Settings icon is seen. Using one finger tap the touchpad to enter the Settings menu.
  3. In the settings menu go to Wireless & Networks > WiFi
  4. In the WiFi settings click on the rear button to enable WiFi.
  5. On the touchpad swipe up or down to select the WiFi network you want to connect to.
  6. Once the desired WiFi network is selected press the rear button, this will open a popup window.
  7. In this popup window you need to fill in the password of the set WiFi network. This can be done by swiping left/right or up/down to select letters/numbers on the keyboard. Once the desired letter is selected press the rear button to have that letter/number ‘typed’ 
  8. If you have typed the password of the WiFi network, long press the rear button to close the virtual keyboard.
  9. Select the ‘connect’ button and the Vuzix M400/M4000 should now connect to the WiFi network.

The Vuzix M400/M4000 should now be connected to the Wi-Fi network.
