How to connect the Meta Quest 3(S) to a Windows computer?

Option 1: You want to copy files (Photos, Videos, APKs)

  1. Turn on the headset and plug it into your computer using a USB-C data cable.
  2. Put on the headset. You will see a pop-up asking: “Allow connected device to access files?”
  3. Click Allow using your controller.
  4. Take off the headset. On your PC, open File Explorer (the folder icon). Under “This PC”, you will see your Quest listed like a USB drive. You can now drag and drop files.

Option 2: You want to play PC VR games (SteamVR / Meta Link)

  1. Download and install the official Meta Quest Link app on your Windows PC. Open the app and log in.
  2. Turn on your headset and plug it into the PC.
  3. Put on the headset. Click Enable when a pop-up asks to “Enable Meta Quest Link”. (Note: If you miss the pop-up, click the clock icon on the bottom left menu, then select Quest Link).

If the computer does not see the headset:

  • Check your cable: Make sure it is a data cable. Cheap cables meant only for phone charging will not work.
  • Don’t let the headset sleep: Keep the headset awake while connecting. If it screen goes black, the PC will lose connection.
  • Restart everything: Unplug the cable, Restart your PC, Restart your headset, and try plugging it back in.
