In this article we will show you everything you need to know to get started with your Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.
Charge your headset
You’ll first need to charge the headset. Plug the included USB-C cable into the USB-C port on the left side of the headset. Plug the other end into the power source. The indicator light will change from orange to green, as soon as the battery is fully charged.
Comfortable fit
Before you get going it’s important to adjust the headset so it sits comfortably on your head. Check out the following video for tips. As soon as the headset is fully charged and sits comfortably on your head, press and hold the power button, which is located at the right side next to the indicator light, to turn on your Quest 2.
Oculus App
For enhancing your VR experience with the Quest 2 you can download the Oculus application on your phone. Watch the following video to learn more about the Oculus application.
How to connect the Quest 2 to Wi-Fi via the headset:
- On your right controller, press the Oculus button.
- Hover over the clock on the left side and click on Quick Settings.
- Click on Wi-Fi.
- Select the toggle to turn on Wi-Fi.
- Click on the Wi-Fi network you want to connect with.
- Enter the password.
- Click on Connect.
How to connect the Quest 2 to Wi-Fi via the mobile app:
- Turn on your headset.
- Open the Oculus mobile app on your phone.
- At the bottom click on Devices, then select the headset you are using.
- Select Wi-Fi, then click on the network you want to connect with.
- Enter the password.
- Click on Connect.
How to install an application from the Oculus Store:
- From the home menu, open the Oculus Store.
- Search for the application you want to install. You can also filter results by genre, rating, pricing and more. To do so use the right sided menu.
- Click on the application you want to install.
- At the bottom you will now see a blue button. If the application is free, the button says Get. If the application costs something, the amount due is displayed.
- Click on the blue button to start downloading the application. Follow the instructions displayed.
- After the download is complete, the application will be automatically installed and added to your app library.
How to set up a play area on the Oculus Quest 2?
When turning on your headset you will be automatically asked to set up your Guardian. There you will be asked to choose between two different Guardian modes.
Guardian modes
- Stationary: Stationary Mode creates a default play area of 1×1 meter. This mode is best for using the headset while sitting or standing in place.
- Roomscale: If you want to move around within your play area you can choose Roomscale. With Roomscale the Quest 2 allows you to draw your play area in your physical space using your Quest 2 controller. It is recommended to have a safe and unobstructed space of at least 2×2 meters.
To switch Guardian modes or redraw your play area:
- On your right controller, click on the Oculus button.
- Hover over the clock on the left side and click on Quick Settings.
- Select Guardian.
- Click on Stationary or Roomscale.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to set up your Guardian.
