Handle the headset carefully and gently, as several parts are very fragile.
How to Navigate the HTC Vive XR Elite
To navigate the HTC Vive XR Elite it is possible to do it without controllers or you can navigate it with controllers. A guide on how to navigate the HTC Vive XR Elite without controllers using Hand Tracking.
Powering On/Off the headset: To turn the headset on and off you need to press the round Headset button located on the headset. To turn it off press the headset button for a few seconds and select Shutdown.
Powering On/Off the controller: To turn the controller on press any button on the controllers. The controllers turn themselves off after a few minutes.
Selecting a button or icon: To select a button or an icon you need to point the controller towards the desired button or icon. Starting from the controller, a straight long line is projected with which you can select the desired icon. If the line is touching the icon or button that you want to select, press the Trigger with your index finger.
Scroll: To scroll you need to use the Trigger button on the controller. To scroll down, press the Trigger and move the controller up and to scroll up press the Trigger and move the controller down.
Accessing the Menu: If you press the Vive button located on the right controller displaying a Vive icon. The Vive symbol appears with a circle around it that slowly closes. Hold the Vive button until the circle is completely closed. The Vive menu is opening
Adjusting Volume: The Volume control is located on the left side of the headset. Use the “+” and “-” keys to adjust the volume to your desired level.

How to adjust the diopter on the HTC Vive XR Elite
If you look inside your headset you will see an arrow pointing to a number on the diopter dial. This number indicates the current diopter number of the lens. It is possible to set the diopter by turning the dial until the arrow aligns with the required diopter number, but to achieve optimal results perform the following steps:
- Take off the face cushion of the headset. Grab the face cushion at the top center and gently pull it towards you.
- Widen the headset by turning the dial located on the battery cradle to the left.
- Put the headset back on and tighten it by turning the dial to the right side.
- Make sure there still remains a distance of approximately 2 centimeters between the lenses of the headset and your face.
- Hold the headset using your right hand.
- Close your right eye. With your left hand reach the dial in front of your left eye and turn it to the left or right, depending on the diopter value you need.
- Adjust the dial to the position where you see the display clear.
- Now switch sides. Hold your headset with your left hand.
- Close your left eye. With your right hand reach the dial in front of your right eye and turn it to the left or right, depending on the diopter value you need.
- Take the headset off and reattach the face cushion.

How to connect the HTC Vive XR Elite to Wi-Fi
- Go to the main lobby. To do so press the Vive Button on the right controller and click on Back to Lobby on the bottom right corner.
- In the dock which is located at the bottom of your view, click on Settings.
- On the left side of the Settings window click on Connectivity.
- Click on Wi-Fi at the top.
- Now you will see all the Wi-Fi networks that are in reach. Select the Wi-Fi Network you want to connect to.
- Click on the Password bar.
- A keyboard will appear at the bottom. Enter the password for the selected Wi-Fi network.
- Click on enter on the keyboard.
The HTC Vive XR Elite is now connected to Wi-Fi.
How to install an application on the HTC Vive XR Elite
- Go to the main lobby. To do so press the Vive Button on the right controller and click on Back to Lobby on the bottom right corner.
- In the dock which is located at the bottom of your view, click on Library.
- Inside the library select a store.
- In the app store you can browse through or search for a specific app at the top bar of the app store.
- If you find an app you want to download, click on the specific app.
- At the bottom click on download now. The download will start.
- Go back to the library.
- There you will find the downloaded app. Click on the app to start it.
You will now know how to install an application on the HTC Vive XR Elite.
How to transfer files from the HTC Vive XR Elite to your computer
- Connect the headset to the computer using a USB-C to USB-C cable. A guide on how to connect the headset to your computer can be found here.
- Turn on your headset.
- Now on your computer open the Explorer.
- Copy the file or files you want to transfer to the headset.
- Click on the folder called This PC.
- In there click on the folder called VIVE XR Series.
- In this folder you will find all the files that are on your headset. For example: Pictures, Downloads.
- Select the folder where the file is located that you want to transfer. For example if you want to transfer a picture from the headset to your computer open the folder “Pictures”.
- Copy the file you want to transfer to your computer.
- Now you can paste this file into a folder from your computer.
You will now know how to transfer files from the HTC Vive XR Elite to your computer.
How to transfer files from a computer to the HTC Vive XR Elite
- Connect the headset to the computer using a USB-C to USB-C cable. A guide on how to connect the headset to your computer can be found here.
- Turn on your headset.
- Now on your computer open the Explorer.
- Copy the file or files you want to transfer to the headset.
- Click on the folder called This PC.
- In there click on the folder called VIVE XR Series.
- In this folder you will find all the files that are on your headset. For example: Pictures, Downloads.
- Select the folder which fits to the type of the file you would like to transfer to your headset and paste your file.
