What are the minimum PC requirements for the Varjo Aero?

Below is a list of the minimum requirements for a computer that can support running applications on the Varjo Aero.

  • Processor: 4-core CPU, Intel i5-4590, Ryzen 5 1500X equivalent or better
  • Memory: 8GB or more (For most VR applications we recommend a minimum of 16GB RAM)
  • Video out: DisplayPort 1.4
  • USB ports: 1x USB-A 3.0
  • Power: USB-C with power supply or supplied power adapter
  • Operating system: Windows 10 (64bit)
  • Graphics: DX12 compatible graphics card

How to connect your Varjo Aero headset with your PC for the first time?

What is needed:

  • Varjo Aero
  • Computer
  • Varjo Base Software

How to set-up the Varjo Aero for the first time:

  1. Log in to your Varjo account on the Varjo website
  2. Download the Varjo Base software from the Varjo download page
  3. Install the Varjo Base software on your PC
  4. Log into your Varjo account on the Varjo Base software
  5. Connect the Varjo Aero headset to your PC
    1. Plug the USB-C end labelled ‘D’ into your headset
    2. Plug the USB-C end labelled ‘B’ into the Varjo adapter
    3. Plug the Varjo adapter into your PC. Plug the DisplayPort into your GPU, the USB-C 3.1 into an input on the motherboard.
    4. Plug the power adapter into the Varjo adapter
  6. Update the Headset if prompted in Varjo Base
  7. Optional: Connect headphones via the 3.5mm audio jack on the left hand side of the headset
  8. Your Varjo Aero is now ready to be used.

What controllers are compatible with the Varjo Aero?

The Varjo Aero can be used with SteamVR 2.0 and 1.0 controllers. In addition to that, you will need 2 to 4 base stations for tracking. SteamVR controllers include:

  • HTC Vive controllers 2.0
  • Valve Index controllers
  • Bionik controller

How to start a VR application on the Varjo Aero?

What is needed:

  • Varjo Aero
  • PC
  • Active internet connection
  • Varjo Base software
  • Steam

How to start a VR application on the Varjo Aero via Steam:

  1. Connect the Varjo Aero to the PC.
  2. Log in to the Varjo Base software.
  3. Your PC screen should now be showing on the Varjo Aero.
  4. Open Steam.
  5. Open the desired application/game.
  6. The application now starts.

How to start a VR application on the Varjo Aero via Varjo Base:

  1. Connect the Varjo Aero to the PC
  2. Log in to the Varjo Base software
  3. Your PC screen should now be showing on the Varjo Aero
  4. Navigate to the application file
  5. Double click the application file
  6. The application will now launch via Varjo Base
