In this article we will show you how to get started with the Meta Quest 3(S).
1. In the box
- Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S Headset
- 2x Meta Quest Touch Plus Controllers
- Power Adapter & USB-C Cable
- 2x AA-Batteries (for controllers)
- For Meta Quest 3S only: Glasses Spacer (inserted in the headset or loose in the box)
2. Before you start
Handle the headset carefully and gently, as several optical parts, lenses, and tracking cameras are highly fragile.
3. How to wear the headset
- Loosen the top strap and the side straps on the head strap.
- Place the headset in front of your face and bring the head strap around your head.
- Adjust the straps until the headset feels secure and comfortable.
Adjusting for Glasses (Eye Relief)
If you wear glasses or want to adjust the distance between your eyes and the lenses:
- On Meta Quest 3: Press the depth adjustment (eye-relief) buttons on the inside of your headset to slide the facial interface forward or backward. Click here to see a more detailed guide on how to adjust the facial interface.
- On Meta Quest 3S: You need to manually install the Glasses Spacer included in your box. The Quest 3S does not have built-in eye-relief buttons.
4. How to change the IPD (Lens Distance)
To get the clearest image and prevent eye strain, you must adjust the lens spacing to match the distance between your eyes (IPD).
- On Meta Quest 3: Put on the headset and turn it on. Locate the IPD wheel on the bottom-left side of the headset. Turn the wheel left or right until the objects/text appear sharp and clear. Click here to see a more detailed guide on how to adjust the IPD.
- On Meta Quest 3S: Take off the headset. Use your fingers to gently shift/push the lenses closer together or further apart. The Quest 3S features 3 preset positions:
- Setting 1 (Narrow): 58mm
- Setting 2 (Medium): 63mm
- Setting 3 (Wide): 68mm Put the headset back on to check the clarity.
